Age Suitability
About The Shoe's age rating
The Shoe is rated 17+ in the United States, 18+ across most of Europe and Latin America, and 19+ in South Korea. The reason is the same everywhere: The Shoe depicts blackjack — a casino card game — using chips and bankroll math. No real money is wagered, won, or lost in the app. Every chip and every dollar shown is a teaching tool.
What The Shoe contains
A blackjack table with simulated chips. A bankroll counter that goes up and down based on hand outcomes. Optional side bets like Lucky Lucky and the Free Bet Wheel. A Monte Carlo simulator that runs thousands of practice hands and shows the math behind betting styles. A weak-spot heatmap that tracks decisions you keep getting wrong. That's the whole app.
What The Shoe does not contain
No real-money play. No virtual currency that you can buy or that holds real-world value. No connection to any casino, sportsbook, or gambling site. No social features, no leaderboards, no ability to send chips to or receive chips from anyone. No advertising for gambling products. No live dealer streams, no chat, no networked play. The Shoe runs entirely on your device and never sends gameplay data anywhere.
Why every age-rating board calls this 18+ or 19+
International rating boards — PEGI in Europe, ClassInd in Brazil, GRAC in Korea, USK in Germany, CERO in Japan — classify any depiction of a casino card game with chips as adult content, regardless of whether real money is involved. The trigger is the visual and mechanical resemblance to gambling, not the stakes. That is why The Shoe gets 18+ in countries that rate gambling content strictly, and 19+ in Korea, where the adult threshold is higher.
Who The Shoe is for
Adults who already play blackjack, or who plan to, and want to walk into the casino knowing the right play for every hand. The Shoe teaches the math that turns a 2% house edge into a 0.5% house edge — the difference between a tax and a fair game. It is a study tool, used the morning before a trip, between hands at home, on the plane.
Who The Shoe is not for
Children. Anyone who finds gambling imagery distressing. Anyone in active recovery from gambling-related harm — please skip this app and talk to someone who can help (1-800-GAMBLER in the U.S., GamCare in the U.K.). The Shoe is a strategy trainer, not a harm-reduction tool, and the chip-and-bankroll surface can be a trigger even when no real money is in play.
Privacy and on-device data
The Shoe does not use accounts, does not require sign-in, and does not track you across other apps or websites. Practice history, settings, and preferences are stored only on the device where you use the app. Apple handles The Shoe Pro purchases; the app checks subscription status on-device to unlock Pro. The Shoe collects no app data.
